Until Further Notice

Proverbs 29:25 Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.

Jesus does not have to practice social-distancing. He is immune to all sickness and He lives in our hearts. Heb. 13:5b For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Could you imagine God putting up a sign like this in heaven?  "Closed until further notice, because of the uncertainty of eternal life, we are going to put salvation on pause!" Thank God, He is still in control of the entire universe and what God has promised, He will do. The Lord can be counted on to be the blessings He says He is. The very heavens point to the greatness of God. Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands.
What a let down these signs (Closed Until Further Notice) have become during this time of infection. We find ourselves asking, "When is it going to reopen?" And the lame answer is, "We don't know, all we do know is, closed until further notice." I'm so grateful God doesn't run His kingdom that way. The limitations of man have become so apparently clear to us during these times of hyper anxiety. Putting our trust in man's ability to run the world is a mug's game. Jer. 17:5 This is what the LORD says: Cursed is the person who trusts in mankind. He makes human flesh his strength, and his heart turns from the LORD.

We are so blessed that nothing can stop the blessings of God from finding us and fulfilling our life's purpose and call. No war, famine, or viral sickness can stop the blessings of God. Psalm 91:10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. God's word declares that we can call on Him and He hears us and shows us the way out of the unknown circumstances. Jer. 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.
In God, there is none of this "closed until further notice" nonsense. Our Lord knows what He is doing and knows how to deliver His people from the onslaught of the enemy and the uncertain prognostications of the world system. What we have to do, is put our trust in Him and not fear mankind. Prov. 29:25 Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe. God is well able to deliver us from any disaster that is active now and in the future.
Just because the world system has posted these intrusive signs of closure because of the unknown effects of sickness and the fear it causes, does not mean we have to become cowardice in our hearts because of world events. If ever there was a time to put on the whole armour of God to extinguish the fiery darts of the enemy that have been dipped in a virus, it is now. Eph. 6:16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one. Now that you have your amour on, you are dressed for prayer. So pray! Eph. 6:18 Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.
We who are in Christ, by faith, have God's ear at all times. If we know that He hears us, then we know our requests are being heard by the Lord All-Mighty. 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. We need to know that we are praying God's will when we are interceding for the people of this world to be healed. It is the mercies of God that lead people to repentance.
Until further notice, I will keep praying and asking God for His mighty deliverance throughout this earth. Until further notice, I will keep destroying the works of the enemy by praying fully dressed in my God-given armour. The attacks in your life may be real and severe. Those are the facts right now that you may be facing. However, the truth is - Jesus has overcome the world and all the menacing factors in it. Now line up your faith with the Lord's, and pray the destruction of this viral attack and anything else that hinders life. In Jesus name.

Paralysis Through Analysis

Proverbs 24:10 If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.

The anxiety of not knowing what to do has caused the paralyzing of people's minds, because of the over-analysis concerning the unfamiliar situation that people are finding themselves in. Turn off the news!!! Change your mind's default mode if it has become fearfully negative. Go do something that gives you life! 2 Tim. 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. If we are in Christ, by faith, our default setting is peace. Therefore, activate it by becoming a helper during this time of chaos.
We cannot keep a sound mind when we are listening to news channels and media sources with the same repetitive news-loops all day long. Change your compass, change your direction. Yes, get the pertinent information needed to take care of each other. Create strategic planning for the health of our families that will be needed, but don't get inundated with the debilitating fear of others. Other people's fear does not belong to you, so don't take it from them.
Fear can be more contagious than a virus. When someone becomes bound with the spirit of fear the results are destructive, and fear will mock you. Prov. 1: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, 27 when your terror comes like a storm, and your destruction comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.
This is a time for prayer and reaching out to God to find out how to intercede for our country. God's word promises that if we humble ourselves by coming to Him, He will heal our land. 2 Chron. 7:14 IMy people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Are you called by His name? Then pray!
If this season of hardship is overwhelming to us, then what will happen during the real times of persecution? Jer. 12:5 If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, then how can you contend with horses? And if in the land of peace, In which you trusted, they wearied you, then how will you do in the floodplain of the Jordan?
Saints, we are more than conquerors through Him who first loved us, and well able to bring our requests to God on behalf of this scared and fearful world right now. If we cannot do that, then we have become a small people. Prov. 24:10 If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. We are not a small people. We are a mighty army led by the King of kings and Lord of lords. Fear has no legal place in our hearts! Fear is a ruthless master, but faith in the Lord brings understanding.
If you have become stuck in a state of paralysis through analysis, then make up your mind to shout praises to your Lord and break through the uncertainty. Whenever the people of God were in danger of being overtaken by foreign powers, the worshipers and musicians went ahead of the army praising God, and God did the warfare. 1 Sam. 17:47a And this whole assembly will know that it is not by sword or by spear that the LORD saves, for the battle is the LORD’s.
Heavenly Father, we praise you and ask you to tear down the power of this virus that has mocked and brought destruction to the people on this earth. We intercede for the people you love and we are asking for the healing of our lands. We thank you that you hear us and love us. In Jesus name!

What A Shemozzle

Proverbs 3:25 Don’t fear sudden danger or the ruin of the wicked when it comes.

What a shemozzle this month is turning out to be. Life as we know it has been cancelled and put on hold. The world is full of fear and is responding to that fear with ridiculous antics. The worldwide reaction to an infectious virus is driving governments and health-care providers to respond with an overabundant amount of information. There is a helter-skelter, minute by minute, broadcasting of uncertainties, rather than giving actual and knowledgeable answers. The problem is, you don't know what you don't know. Therefore, they end up reaching for answers that are reactionary to the moment. Prov. 3:25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes. 26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
Whenever we read historic events of past plagues and pestilences invading the old world populations, we often ridicule these people as simpletons because of their ignorant response to the events they lived through. We sometimes mock the answers they came up with to divert the diseases from their homes. Potions, spells, and special dances were used to ward off the evil that was upon them. This is often seen as folly by our so-called advanced society.
Well, it may be that in a hundred years from now, when people are reading our historic reaction to this now present virus, and its effects, they will most likely laugh their heads off. At that time, a student in university might write a thesis on the mental effects that caused the hoarding of toilet-paper. Questions will be asked about the overreactive fear that was in people's hearts. Their observations might focus on the resulting racism that had spread much faster than the virus. 2 Tim. 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
I'm not a disease expert in any way, nor am I in any medical field of learning. However, like most people, I believe we should take precautions to avoid getting sick and spreading a virus that causes a respiratory tract infection. We should do the same for all influenzas and transmittable sicknesses. What we should not do, is lose our commonsense and faith in God's ability to lead us through the hard times of life. Isa. 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
Praying and asking God for help would be more productive than speculating on whether this whole thing is a government conspiracy for eliminating a segment of the world population. Believing God's promises of healing would make more sense than believing all the hype and prognostications being put forth as reliable information. Jer. 17:14 Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.
Yes, the whole world is in a shemozzle right now, but they who know their God will do great exploits. If ever there was a time we needed God's healing peace, it is now. We do not have to fear. We need to be in Christ and proclaim the blessings and promises God gave us. Mark 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Yes. Lord, remind us of your greatness, and that you are the King of kings, Lord of lords, and sovereign over all governments. Psalm 24:1 The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. Give us your peace and understanding during this time of uncertainty. Heal our land and the people in it. We ask this in Jesus name!

Understanding The Times

Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a difficult time.

1 Chronicles 12:32a And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.
How do we know spring is around the corner? We can see the signs of the times. For me, a sure sign of spring is when the new-born calves are out in the fields tentatively exploring their new environments. They can be seen at this time of the year on the cattle-ranches around our province of British Columbia. For my wife, it's the first robin sighting and hearing its divine song. I have a friend who said, "The first sign of spring for me, is when the city street-sweepers are out cleaning the sand that was laid down throughout the winter." Well, the street-sweepers have been out in full force for the past two weeks, so spring must be here.
Jesus did tell us to keep our hearts aware, and eyes open, so that we could recognize the times that we are in. He warned that there would be conflict, and rumours of wars as well as earth-shaking problems. Matt. 24:7 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. Jesus also explained that many would be offended and the rise of false prophets would deceive a lot of people. Matt. 4:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. In contrast to spring announcing itself on the warmth of a gentle breeze, these world problems are screaming out for attention.
The upshot is that now, there is so much pseudo advice being given for solving these world problems, that there is a feeling of being inundated by the advice itself. All these voices are prating away for attention, claiming to help us avoid the perils that are coming our way. Many of these advisors think they know the times they are in, but they are only picking at some of the surface problems. Luke 12:56 Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but why don’t you know how to interpret this present time?
As we walk with our Lord Jesus, we are to have our feet covered and protected by the peace of God, so that wherever we walk, we bring the Lord's peace with us. Eph. 6:15 And with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. No matter what time in history we are living in, we are more than conquerors through Christ. We know these days are evil, therefore, we can bring the healing peace that the world needs. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
When we read the Word of God, it does not take long to find out that the times have always been evil concerning the heart of man. Jer. 17:9 The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? The problem arises when we, who have walked with the Lord, start taking our eyes off of Him and disregard His word and instructions for living. As a result of ignoring God's decrees, confusion sets in because of our disobedience. Then, of course, we lose our peace and end up listening to all the nonsense being given out as sage advice. The moment we repent, we can rejoin the steps our Lord is walking in, and the clarity of thought, with the joy of the Lord, will bring us back to knowing where we are in life.
If you have lost your peace, then look to the Lord who is the Prince of Peace. If you have lost your joy, then look to Christ, so that the joy of the Lord becomes your strength again. If you do not know where you are in your life right now, then look to Jesus who said, "He is the true life." John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Knowing Jesus as our friend and brother will always help us know the times we are living in. Prov. 17:17 A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a difficult time. Even in the roughest events of war and destruction, we can have the peace that passes understanding. However, we have to keep our hearts and eyes on God where our names are written on His heart. That miracle is the best sign for the future that we could ever have. Luke 10:20b Rejoice because your names are registered in heaven. Amen!
