What's Trending In Heaven?

Proverbs 14:15 The simple believe every word: but the prudent man looks well to his going.

It must be true. I read it on the Internet. I was trying to find a news story while watching a news program and all that the anchor person was talking about was pop-culture and what was trending here, there, and everywhere. To my amazement, everything they were gossiping about was taken as pure fact. I tried another news channel and it was the same tabloid reporting of what was trending now.
I then went and looked for the news I was looking for on the Internet. I found the article and was finally satisfied as I got what I was looking for. I then began to laugh because I had believed what I just read then said to myself, "It must be true I read it on the Internet."
We are being inundated with information at rates never thought possible. Dan. 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. How do I determine what is valid and worth my time in life?

There is every kind of communication system available to man, and yet not many are able to truly communicate. I had a student tell me that he had over two hundred friends on Facebook but he had no one to truly talk to. All the noise being generated from all the trending methods are screaming for attention and when attention is given, it gives an insipid, bland, and tasteless social pablum that does not satisfy our personal intelligent - let alone our souls.
I am not down on the Internet or all the communication services available, as I am using it right now by writing this blog. I believe there are some great uses at our disposal for the glorification of our Lord and the edifying of our lives. Col. 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men
I personally believe God gave us the intelligence to create all these communication sites and devices to bring us together for better living and for His glory. Has there been some hijackings of these inventions for inappropriate use? Yes, but that does not mean we cave into it. People abuse cars. That does not mean I have to walk, but it means I must drive carefully.
We read in the book of Acts of a group of people who were accustomed to hearing all the latest trends and religions ideology from all corners of the known world. Their method of separating all the hear-say and noise of the day was a method we should be using ourselves every day.
They studied the Scriptures to see if what was being said in the different medias of the day to be true. Acts 17:10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
We are going to be offered many different philosophies wrapped in colorful spiritual garb, but we do not have to put it on. We can be discerning as to what we allow in our minds and souls. Yes, it will take some work but it is the privilege of Christians to discover what God has for us. Prov. 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter. Eccl. 1:13a And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven.
We can count on the fact that what is trending in heaven is what God said we could depend upon. Jesus is still Lord, and He is still healing and providing for our needs. Christ's blood is still cleansing and saving from eternal death, giving eternal life. The Holy Spirit is still filling us with His fire and power; declaring Jesus the Son of God. God is still pouring His eternal love out on all whom He has created. God is still good and we still need Him for a full and gracious life. Heb. 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever
Lord, in Jesus name, help us to separate the noise of life for the joy of the Lord. Help us to use our time for blessing you and those you put in our paths. Help us to see your plan for our lives and help us live it. Amen.
